My thoughts on Mandy Smith

I first heard of Mandy Smith in the summer of 2000 when I bought a Swedish compilation record called “Love Tracks 3”. I mainly bought it for a track by my idol Pernilla Wahlgren but I instantly fell in love with Mandy’s “Positive Reaction”.

A couple of years later, I finally found Mandy’s original album on CD. It is still one of the most precious items in my record collection. Mandy’s singing voice isn’t the strongest in the world, but I still like it. I find it both sexy and innocent at the same time. And of course, I can’t resist the wonderful Stock Aitken Waterman sound!

I was appalled when I read that some radio stations refused to play Mandy’s records because of the whole Bill Wyman affair. Why should an underaged girl be held responsible for being seduced by a fifty-year-old man? That’s crazy! I recommend Mandy’s autobiography “It’s All Over Now”, where she tells her side of the story.

I really admire Mandy Smith. She’s a strong woman who went through a lot as a teenager, but finally landed on her feet.

My favourite tracks by Mandy are “I Just Can’t Wait”, “Positive Reaction”, “Stay With Me Tonight”, “Victim Of Pleasure”, “Boys And Girls” and “Don’t You Want Me Baby”.
