The first time I heard Mel & Kim was in the year 2000 when a clip from the “Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend)” video was used in a commercial to promote an eighties compilation album. It made me really curious. A couple of days later, I saw the “Respectable” video on VH1 and instantly fell in love with the wonderful Stock Aitken Waterman sound.
Besides the sound I also love Mel & Kim’s voices, they are really unique. You can tell right away who’s singing. I was deeply saddened when I heard about Mel’s passing. But she will live on through her music.
I love all Mel & Kim tracks, but my personal favourites are “Respectable”, “System”, “You Changed My Life”, “From A Wisper To A Scream”, “That’s The Way It Is” and “Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend)”. I also love Kim’s solo music, especially “Don’t Worry”, “Light Of The World” and “G.L.A.D. (7″ Remix)”.
